Research. Optimization and game theory modelling and numerical algorithms. Applications in vehicle routing optimization, and people flow analysis in buildings.

Editorialship. Member of the Executive board of ISDG (The International Society of Dynamic Games), 2000-2008; secretary, 2000-2006. Editor of the ISDG Electronic Newsletter, 1990-2006. Associate Editor: Optimization Letters, 2011-present.

Teaching. Taught the 5 cr batchelor level course ‘Optimoinnin perusteet’ (MS-C2105 Introduction to Optimization) during 1998-2018, in which time this course has been taken over 3500 engineering students.
