Instructions for Winpre decision support tool:
-----------------------------------------------------------
This program is an implementation of techniques based on
the propagation of imprecise preference statements in
hierarchical weighting. Both Preference Programming and
PAIRS-methods are implemented in Winpre. Winpre runs in
MS Windows (3.x, NT, 95') environment. The underlying
methodology of the program is described in

Installation:

Windows (64-bit):

Winpre runs only in 32-bit Windows environments. However,
if you have a 64-bit version of Windows, it is possible
to use Winpre by installing a 32-bit version of Windows
on a virtual machine with software such as VirtualBox.
If you don't have installation media of a 32-bit Windows,
Microsoft currently provides 32-bit virtual machines
of various Windows versions for free at http://modern.ie
mainly for web development purposes. However, these
virtual machines can only be used for a limited time
without a valid Windows licence or re-installation.

In case you have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise
or Ultimate, you can also install "Windows XP Mode" from
Microsoft to obtain a fully functional virtual machine
of a 32-bit Windows XP.

Windows (32-bit):

Winpre requires no special installation procedure in
32-bit Windows environments. To start the program, simply
run WINPRE.EXE.

Using the program:

Winpre is exclusively mouse-driven and it's used like
other Windows programs. Winpre has many help features.
When the left mouse button is pressed on a menu item,
Winpre shows a short description of the menu item in
the help bar, which is in the bottom of the Winpre
Main Window. Speed buttons display hints, when the
cursor rests over them more than a second. Winpre has
a Help file, which can be read by selecting Contents
item in the Help menu.

Restrictions and known bugs:

* The numerical results of the program have not yet
been fully tested, and must therefore be regarded
   with some suspicion.

* Maximum number of subcriteria or subalternatives of
   a criterion is ten.
